A meeting of kiln association held at Ministry of Climate Change with other relevant departments chaired by Federal Minister for Climate Change. Federal minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan stressed that zigzag kiln is very important and requires a proper plan .The officers of Ministry of Climate Change, Pakistan Engineering Council conduct a study to support kiln association to adopt zigzag kiln .He further added that kiln industry is also releasing carbon emission so it is need of hour to adopt modern technologies to come over climate change issue through reducing carbon emission. Mr.Shoaib Khan Niazi President All Pakistan brick Kiln Association said at the occasion that there are 20500 brick kilns in Pakistan. We have realized that zigzag kiln is more beneficial and reduces emission up to 30% and more energy efficiency as well. We need technical support to convert to Zigzag kiln. The supply of electricity should be on industrial rate. The awareness plans should be initiated. He further stressed that government should provide model kilns. The owners of brick kilns who are first one to convert to zigzag must be given some incentives and honors. The representative of engineering council told the participants that they would visit the brick kilns sites, get views from relevant stakeholders and prepare a report. The secretary Ministry of Climate Change Khizer Hayat suggested to formulate a under the chairmanship of director General Environmental Protection Agency small committee to review the possible plan to help kiln association to adopt zigzag kiln.
