An impressive ceremony was held at Pakistan House today to commemorate the Pakistan National Day. The ceremony was held with national fervor and enthusiasm and was attended by a large number of Pakistani community. Ambassador Asif Durrani hoisted the national flag to mark the occasion accompanied by National Anthem sung by Pakistani students from Pakistan Embassy Intentional School & College, Tehran, says a press release received here today from Tehran. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out on the occasion. In his address, Ambassador Durrani paid rich tributes to the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the leaders of the Pakistan movement. He recalled the efforts and sacrifices of the founding fathers for achieving a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia. Calling upon the Pakistani community to remain committed to serving the country, Ambassador Durrani reiterated the need for forging national unity to overcome the challenges being faced by the country. The Ambassador also highlighted policies of the Government aimed at eliminating extremism and terrorism from the country and achieving the economic goals and uplifting the standards of living of the people. Expressing satisfaction over the growing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, the Ambassador said he hoped that the trade between the two countries would be enhanced to the level of US $ 5 billion in the coming three years. Students from Pakistan Embassy International School and College, Tehran in their presentations paid homage to the father of the nation and leaders of the freedom movement. Pakistani students in the Iranian educational institutions also participated in large number. A group of Pakistani students presented national songs on the occasion.
