Mr. François Martel Secretary General, Pacific Island development Forum called on Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushhaidullah Khan in his office. Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan highlighted during the meeting that we are disusing carbon emission, fossil fuels and global warming at International forums but concrete steps are still missing from developing nations who are responsible for climate change. French president did a great effort to invite people from private sector to support Green Climate Fund after the withdrawal of Donald Trump. The climate change is affecting humans on land and marine life also.The exchange of expertise on sea pollution and mangroves between Pacific Island Forum and ministry of climate Change is a great idea. Mr. Francois said that our organization is working for raising the voice of small islands on climate change and focusing on maritime emission. He further added that their organization is signing a Memorandum of understanding with COMSATS University to involve students and researchers from both sides. Ms.Romina Khursheed Alam, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change said that our ministry is taking various important steps to involve young people on climate change issue. We are organizing an expo on sustainable development to provide the opportunity to students to display their projects related to environment and connect them with public and private sector. She also said that youth empowerment and entrepreneurship is their objective through this expo. She also told that Pakistan is having very soon its first mall built on urban forestation. Director General Environment Mr. Irfan Tariq informed the delegation that Pakistan has declared Astola Island as first marine protected area of Pakistan few months ago. Ministry of Climate change is also working to reduce plastic bags disposal into sea and Institute of Oceanography in Karachi is very important. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* ?
