Mr. Burgess, Justice of the High Court of Northern Ireland, called on Zafarullah Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Law and Justice. In the meeting Zafarullah khan said that Pakistan gives great importance to the partnership between Pakistan and UK in the fight against terrorism. The two sides discussed the need of legislation on certain important issues, which include 'Protection of witnesses', as it is very substantial piece of legislation because people are either afraid to come to courts or sometimes they are vulnerable. Other issues include the 'Legislation on Sentencing Prisoners' and 'Community Service Payback order'. The two sides agreed to strengthen Judicial cooperation and to share international best practices in relation to court and case management processes, witness and judicial measures, and develop judicial, prosecutorial and investigator trainings.
