President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Iraq is an important country of
the Islamic world and Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with
Iraq.
The President said this while talking to Ambassador-designate to Iraq
Sajid Bilal who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Friday. Senior
officials were also present on the occasion.
The President stated that Pakistan has very cordial relations with Iraq
which are further strengthened by the historical and religious links. Therefore, it is necessary to increase cooperation
in different sectors including education, culture and trade, he added. He also
directed that efforts for the enhancement of mutual cooperation should be
intensified. He underlined that there are vast opportunities of trade between
Pakistan and Iraq and continuous efforts are required for the optimal
utilization of their true potential. He also stressed that priority should be
given to the exchange of delegations of traders and industrialists in this
regard.
