President
Mamnoon Hussain has said that the welfare of 90 million overseas Pakistanis is
the major responsibility of the Government and their issues must be resolved on
priority basis.
The President said this while talking
to Barrister Amjad Malik, Chairman, Board of Governors, Overseas Pakistanis
Foundation (OPF) who called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr,
Islamabad on Thursday.
The President emphasized that the
foremost goal of the OPF should be the welfare of overseas Pakistanis and their
families in Pakistan. He hoped that OPF will continue to perform this duty in a
befitting manner. While expressing concern regarding decline in the number of
overseas Pakistanis, he stressed that there is a need to explore new employment
opportunities abroad for the skilled and non-skilled Pakistani workers. The
President underlined that OPF should increase the contacts between overseas
Pakistanis and our embassies abroad so that their problems can be resolved in
an efficient manner. In this regard, the performance of community welfare
Attachés’ should be improved, he added.
The President stated that work should
be started regarding determination of quota for the admissions of the children
of overseas Pakistanis in the educational institutions of Pakistan. He also
underscored that all possible efforts should be made to establish Pakistani
schools in Arab countries so that affordable education could be provided to the
children of our overseas community.
