Mr. Muhammed Zubair,
Governor Sindh, met with Mr. Mark Field, Minister of State for Asia and Pacific
and Mr. Greg Hands, Minister of Trade Policy on 19 December 2017. Detailed
discussions were held on the promotion of bilateral trade and bringing
investment from the UK to Pakistan in various sectors of economy. In this
context, he also met with Mr. Rehman Chishti MP, British Trade Envoy for
Pakistan, says a press release received from London here today.
In his meetings with the
British Ministers, the Governor was accompanied by H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas,
Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK.
During the meetings,
strong interest was expressed from both sides to further boost bilateral trade
and commercial relations between the two countries. British side also expressed
their support for the “Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)” and expressed their
desire to seek collaboration in the execution of CPEC projects. Governor Sindh
and the High Commissioner invited the British investors to take advantage of
the improved business climate in Pakistan and invest in the growing economy of
the country.
The Governor Sindh is
visiting the UK from 16 to 22 December 2017 along
with a business delegation to seek collaboration across various sectors of
economy between Pakistan and the UK. Besides meeting with Ministers, Lord Mayor
of London and representatives of the business community, the Governor will also
visit various British universities.
The United Kingdom is an
important trading partner of Pakistan. Pakistani exports to British Markets are
currently growing at a rate of 9%. Series of high profile visits from UK to
Pakistan and vice versa reflect the strengthening of bilateral commercial
relations between the two countries.
