Mr. Jan
Figel, European Union Special Envoy for the Promotion of Freedom of Religion
and Belief, met with Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed Tarar, Honorable Federal Minister for
Human Rights, and Barrister Usman Ibrahim, Minister of State for Human Rights.
Mr. Mumtaz
Ahmed Tarar, Federal Minister for Human Rights, emphasized on the Right and
Freedom of Religion. He said that without it there is no justice and peace in
our society. He expressed these views in a meeting held on Tuesday at Ministry
of Human Rights, Islamabad. He stated that the sectarian elements must be
negated from society in order to stop serious Human Rights violations.
Federal Minister also stated that the Ministry
of Human Rights is making efforts to safeguard the rights of all sects. Mumtaz
Ahmed Tarar said that the Ministry is committed to Human Rights subject
according to rule of law and our Constitution.
Barrister
Usman Ibrahim, Minister of State for Human Rights, said that Pakistan is
committed for the better Human Rights of all sects of our society. He further
illustrated that it is essential to take preventive measures and implement
certain laws. Minorities are important and integral part of our country and
they have representations in all fares of our system, like Judiciary,
Administration and Legislation. He emphasized that it is our responsibility to
protect Rights of all citizens and every non-Muslim is free to profess and to
practice in our country.

Figel appreciated the efforts made by Ministry of Human Rights. He stated that
Pakistan is moving in right direction and we will provide every helping hand to
Pakistan. He asserted that Human life should be on top priority of our agenda
and must be saved. For minorities, he said that it is important for minorities
to feel fully respected and protected. In the end he congratulated Ministry of
Human Rights for conducting Human rights Festival on the occasion of
International Human Rights Day at Lok Virsa on 10th December.
