“Involvement of
community as stakeholder is indispensable for better system of policing “, Interior
Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal said this while visiting the National Police
Bureau today.
The visit by Interior
Minister Ahsan Iqbal to National Police Bureau was the first one by any
Interior Minister after the year 2008.
While chairing a meeting
at National Police Bureau that was also attended by DG NPB Shaukat Hyat
and other officials , Interior Minister stressed that Technology must be
harnessed in order to eradicate crime from the society adding that terrorism
can only be defeated by optimal utilization of modern technology.
Interior Minister also
stated that NPB must play its active role in transforming Islamabad Police into
Model police. He also added that Islamabad Police should be a role model for
other provinces to follow its suit.
Interior Minister
directed to reform the institution of Police on modern lines in order to cope
with the new challenges posed by advance technology.
Interior Minister also
directed NPB to play a dynamic role regarding the formulation of Police
reforms.
Keeping in view the
current challenges policing has been facing, interior minister also
directed to organize the First National Police Summit and Expo on January 29,2018.
The basic aim of
National Police Summit and Expo in which Police of all provinces will
participate is to apprise masses about the progress and performance of policing
in the country. Moreover, experts from national and international
level will also be invited to deliver lectures on different aspects of modern
policing. The purpose of Expo is to enhance the professional capacities
of police officials and inculcate them with the concept of modern policing so
that Police in Pakistan can better serve the society and people of
Pakistan.
