Interior
Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal chaired a high level meeting today to review the
security arrangements in Islamabad. In the wake of a call from some
religio-political groups staging rallies and processions in the capital,
Interior Minister has stated that nobody will be allowed to disrupt the law and
order situation in the capital and the elements found in any nefarious activity
will be dealt sternly.
In the
meeting, Interior Minister asserted that Pakistan needs stability and harmony
in wake of the war against terrorism. Internal solidarity is key to our
success. Some anti state elements are fuelling controversies to provoke
conflicts within our state. We have to defeat such designs. Some elements are
trying to exploit finality of Prophet PBUH issue for political gains whereas
there is no reality in the allegations. The sanctity of Prophet PBUH
status will be maintained at all cost.
He said,
safety in Red Zone of capital should be ensured at all cost and no political
and religious party should be allowed to violate or sabotage rules and
regulations enunciated for the Capital by High Court. He also added that every
citizen is free to exercise democratic rights within the limits of law. Those
taking law into own hands will be dealt with sternly.
Interior
Minister said that street agitation and violence in the capital will damage the
international image of Pakistan.
Interior
Minister has directed to beef up the security of Red Zone and Diplomatic
Enclave in Islamabad in order to avoid any unpleasant incident in the capital.
He also said
that some elements have ambitions to disrupt the peace in the country.
The Interior Minister also noted that politics of violence and agitation
is against the teachings of Islam and notable section of Islamic scholars
should come forward and play their due role by imparting the true teachings and
message of Islam.
