British High
Commissioner in Pakistan H.E Thomas Drew called on the Interior Minister
Professor Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad today. Matters pertaining to mutual
interests came under discussion. In the meeting , Interior Minister noted that
Pakistan and Britain enjoys long lasting and historical relations adding that
interests of both countries converges on peace and stability in the region.
Interior
Minister laid emphasis to build a Knowledge Gateway between the two countries
which will open new vistas for the Pakistani students in their endeavor to
obtain PHD degrees from the leading universities of Britain. Interior
Minister added that it is our utmost priority to offer opportunities to our
talented youth in order to equip them with better education.
While talking
to High Commissioner Interior Minister also stated that International community
should acknowledge the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the war against
terror. He added that National Action Plan is going on successfully all over
the country.
Talking on
the Pakistani Diaspora in Britain, Interior Minister said that the Pakistani
Diaspora has been playing their role remarkably in the economic development in
Britain. Interior Minister has expressed his resolve to join hands with
Pakistani Diaspora in Britain to further enhance the economic cooperation
between the two countries .Later on , Ambassador of Germany H.E Martin Kobler
called on Interior Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal today in Islamabad . Matters
related to regional affairs came
under discussion. In the meeting, unanimity to promote the
cooperation between Pakistan and Germany in the sectors of Science and
Technology and skilled training was expressed. Interior Minister said that
Sacrifices rendered by Pakistan had a part in fall of Berlin wall and
unification of Germany. He added that the defeat of Soviet Union had changed
the Geographical and Political map of Europe.
Interior
Minister stated that Germany should extend full cooperation for the development
and peace in Pakistan. Interior Minister said that the recent spate of
terrorists attacks in Pakistan had been planned and carried out by nefarious
elements from across the western border. He further stressed that
peace and stability in Afghanistan is of vital importance for Pakistan adding
that the efforts for restoration of peace in Afghanistan through a
political reconciliation process is a centre stage of Pakistan 's policy.
“CPEC and
Economy are the real Strategic Depth for Pakistan”, He said. Interior Minister
urged all the countries of the region to work together for restoration of peace
in Afghanistan. He added that sustained and long term peace in Afghanistan is
imperative for peace in the region. Pakistan has paid heavy price in the war
against terror, he further added. Interior Minister stressed that the countries
of world needs to forge Economic cooperation instead of developing
mutual enmities and conflicts .Terrorists have been eliminated 100% from
the tribal regions of Pakistan, Interior Minister stated. In the meeting,
German Ambassador expressed his support for the CPEC Projects .Germany desires
to become part of CPEC, Ambassador said.
Interior
Minister also invited the journalistic community of Germany to visit Pakistan.
