Interior
Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal visited the FIA Headquarters and chaired a high
level meeting to review the performance of FIA in Islamabad today. In the
meeting, Interior Minister directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against
corrupt elements in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Director General FIA
also briefed the Interior Minister on the progress made by FIA on various
issues.
Interior
Minister stressed to restructure the agency on modern lines in order to making
it at par with the international standards. He also directed to expel
the black sheeps and corrupt elements from the agency to make it a
more transparent organization . Interior Minister stated that FIA
should make use of new technology to control crimes and should tackle with
criminals proactively. On making FIA Academy an eminent institution , Interior
Minister issued instructions to revamp the academy and arrange training
programs for the officers from states that have friendly relations with
Pakistan. He also urged the FIA officials to conduct decent behaviour while
dealing with the passengers at the airport.
Interior
Minister directed to take effective counter measures against human traffickers
adding that Human Trafficking is a heinous crime that has negative
repercussions on the image of the country. He also laid emphasis to take
stern action against the people involved in illegal activities.
He also
stated that FIA should take steps to deter anti state elements from propagating
extremism, chaos and disturbance in the country through social media. He added
that these are the enemies of state that are employing social media as a
tool to spread anarchy in the country. In this connection, Interior Minister
urged FIA to curb cyber-crime by mobilizing its resources.
Interior
Minister also noted that beggars rackets specifically operating in Saudi Arabia
has brought a bad name for the country. FIA should take prompt action
against these rackets and their facilitators. In order to motivate the
officers, Interior Minister directed to incentivize the FIA officials based on
their performance.
