Federal Minister for Human Rights Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed Tarar congratulated all Rural Women, PODA Pakistan and all supporting institutions on the Rural Women Day. He provided the opportunity to all governmental and international policy makers to resolve the issues of rural women in many rural areas of Pakistan. This conference is an appropriate step not only to bridge the gap between government and rural women but also builds the trust of women on government. Policies of present government depict need, thoughts and suggestions of rural women and show the confidence on development projects of government.

He addressed that Pakistan has high value, respect and dignity for senior citizens. He stated that the guiding principle for the promotion and protection of senior citizens and their basic fundamental rights, including equality, principles of non-discrimination and to take special measures, to ensure their protection were embedded in the provisions of the Constitution of Pakistan.

He further said that government have legislated many laws for Rights of Women and their betterment. Many institutions, like NCHR, PCSWs, NCSW, along with Ministry of Human Rights have provided volunteer Lawyers and help lines to support women being tortured.

In his concluding remarks Federal Minister assured that the Ministry of Human Rights will strive for National Policy making with regards to rural women and will work with the network of rural women.
