H.E.
Mr. Mehdi Honardost, Ambassador of Iran called on Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan,
Minister for Defence, in his office at Ministry of Defence today. Federal
Minister welcomed the dignitary and expressed good wishes for the Iranian
political and military leadership.
The
Ambassador felicitated the Federal Minister on assuming the portfolio of
defense ministry. He emphasized that there exists huge potential of
collaboration between Pakistan and Iran.
Federal
Minister, Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan emphasized on the importance of bilateral
relations between Pakistan and Iran and expressed the hope that Pakistan Iran
bilateral relations will continue to evolve on principles of mutual respect,
common interests and understanding each other perceptions.
Engr.
Khurram Dastgir Khan, Federal Minister also highlighted the important role of
Pakistan as a stabilizing factor for regional security. He further said that
regional cooperation is essential to attain sustainable peace and stability in
Afghanistan as well as in the region.
The
Ambassador acknowledged the substantial collaboration which already exists
between Pakistan and Iranian navies. He further said that the overall trend of
strengthening relations is positive.
Federal
Minister mentioned that personnel of Armed Forces of both the countries may
avail courses in each other’s training institution.
