President Mamnoon Hussain has said that sacrifices of the brave people and the Armed Forces of Pakistan are bearing fruit and fight against terrorism is progressing successfully and resultantly a new era of progress and stability would begin in the country where responsibility of youth having expertise in different disciplines would increase manifold.
The President said this while addressing the 27thConvocation of Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC) here in Karachi on Thursday. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah and senior officials were also present on the occasion.
The President stated that Pakistan today is passing through an important phase of history adding that a few misguided elements want to impose their illogical mindset on the nation by force. The President said that such elements have caused huge loss to the country through terrorism and extremism and tough measures were needed to crush these elements. The President stated that the government therefore initiated National Action Plan (NAP) acting on which the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies have achieved considerable successes. The President stated that unrest in Karachi has harmed the country but the good news is that bad days are now ending. He assured the nation that actions would continue till complete elimination of terrorism. He appealed to the nation to stand by national institutions on this important occasion.
The President said that a new era of economic and trade activities would begin in the country with the operationalization of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and as a result new industries would be set up and employment opportunities would be generated. “In order to take advantage from these opportunities, the youth should acquire modern skills”, stated the President. The President underlined that no country can progress unless women are part of its workforce therefore it is necessary that women should attain maximum education by removing all hurdles. The President stated that women should not compromise on their identity while seeking their education in any part of the world because following alien civilizations would not be good for them.
The President said that Pakistan Navy has rendered commendable services during trying times including natural disasters for which it deserves praise. The President appreciated the provision of opportunities to students for attaining education in institutions being run under the supervision of Pakistan Navy and hoped that its scope would be further expanded. Lt. Gen. ® Muhammad Asghar, Rector, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and Dr. Nassar Ikram, Commandant PNEC also addressed on the occasion.
