PR No.59 PRIME MINISTER, AZAD JAMMU AND KASHMIR INAUGURATES KASHMIR EXHIBITION IN BRUSSELS Islamabad

In connection with the Kashmir –EU week being observed in Brussels, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan inaugurated an exhibition on Kashmir entitled “The Paradise Turned Hell” at the Press Club Brussels, today. The exhibition will remain open for two weeks.

 

The exhibition has been organized by the Kashmir Council EU and Friends of Kashmir Group in the European parliament as part of weeklong series of events on Kashmir. The Kashmir-EU Week has been organized by Mr. Sajjad Karim (MEP), Mr.Afzal Khan (MEP) and Friends of Kashmir Group in EU Parliament in collaboration with the Kashmir Council EU. To express their solidarity with people of Kashmir, members of European Parliament, journalists, and representatives from various walks of life attended the event.

 

In his address, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir invited attention of international community towards the unprecedented scale of  human rights violations in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and stressed for peaceful solution of this long standing issue in accordance with the Resolutions of the United Nations. He strongly condemned the atrocities being committed by India on innocent people of Kashmir who were struggling for their right to self -determination.

 

Those who addressed the gathering included MEPs Mr Sajjad Karim, Mr Afzal Khan, Ms Julie Ward; Mr Anthony Crasner and Ms Danielle Caron; Journalist Marjan Lucas and  Chairman Kashmir Council EU Mr Ali Raza Syed.

 

The speakers expressed deep concern over the plight of people of Kashmir who have been suffering atrocities of worst kind on the hands of Indian forces of occupation for seven decades. They urged for immediate attention of the world community to address the ever growing human rights violations in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir as since July this year the scale of atrocities had been on rise. They condemned inhumane use of pallet guns resulting in killings of more than 100 people and seriously injuring over 8000 people. The speakers also expressed concerns over the fact that schools have been closed due to disturbances and many young children were being deprived of education.
