Federal Minister for Parliamentary affairs and Chairman of the Steering Committee of PM sustainable development Program Mr. Sheikh Aftab has chaired the first meeting of PM Sustainable development programmed today at Islamabad.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Cabinet Division and MNA Capt. (R) Safdar alongwith senior officials from various Ministries. The minister has stressed that the Prime Minister’s Sustainable development program is a non political program and the development projects will be completed in every constituency regardless of the political affiliations. The minister has said that the Prime minister wants all the development schemes to be completed in time. The meeting has finalized the TORs for the speedy completion of the development projects, the federal Minister, as chairman, has approved that the timeframe for the completion of formalities for all the Development projects will not e more than one month. In order to improve the working efficiency and coordination of the committee and the relevant departments the Chairman has decided that the video conferences will also be held to save time and improve efficiency. The steering committee will oversee the development projects in various sectors including, electricity, gas supply, clean water supply, sanitation health, education and infrastructure. The development schemes will be demand based and the schemes amounting between0.5 million to rupees 30 million can be initiated by the divisional commissioners. The committee has also directed that a separate database will be maintained for electricity and gas supply projects to ensure transparency and accountability. The committee approved the release of rupees 1 billion rupees for the development schemes related to the supply of gas to the different villages. The Chairman has also approved the establishment of the overseeing committees in every district comprising of the divisional commissioner 2 MNAs 2 MPAs and members of local government.
