PR No.39 DRAFT REPORT OF PAKISTAN INTENDED NATIONALLY DETERMINED CONTRIBUTIONS (INDC) REVIEWED UNDER THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF FEDERAL MINISTER FOR LAW, JUSTICE AND CLIMATE CHANGE ZAHID HAMID IN THE PRESENCE OF ALL STAKEHOLDERS Islamabad

A meeting was called at Ministry of Climate Change under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Climate Change Zahid Hamid to review draft report of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) of Pakistan. Once finalized, the report will be submitted to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change before the COP 22, to be held in early November 2016.

The report has been prepared through a broad consultation process and taking into consideration the Vision 2025 of the Planning Commission, National Climate Change Policy, National Disaster Risk management Policy and a host of other relevant documents. The Minister and the participants were briefed by the INDC Team on the methodological approach and technical aspects of the study. Participants noted that future greenhouse gas emissions of Pakistan are likely to grown considerably given the forecasted economic growth and expansion in the energy sector.

Comprehensiveness and technical content of the report was appreciated by the stakeholders. Some specific comments were made which will be incorporated in the report. Participants agreed to send the INDC report to Prime Minister for approval.

The representatives from Planning commission, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Foreign office, Ministry Water and Power, Ministry of Finance etc attended the meeting.
