President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan enjoys brotherly relations with Bangladesh adding that Pakistan is desirous to have cordial relations with all its neighbouring countries.

The President said this while talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to Bangladesh Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Monday.

The President urged the ambassador-designate to go beyond the confines of traditional diplomacy to further strengthen relations with Bangladesh. He further said that the two countries need to move forward and strengthen bilateral relations by promoting parliamentary and people to people contacts. The President underlined the need for increasing bilateral trade with Bangladesh to further cement bilateral relations.

President Mamnoon Hussain said that it is the responsibility of Pakistani diplomats to encourage foreign investors to invest in Pakistan. The President noted that law and order situation in the country has improved as a result of operation Zarb-e-Azb and actions against terrorist across the country.

The President said that in order to complement the efforts of the diplomats, the government has nominated members of parliament to highlight the issue of occupied Kashmir at the international level adding that Pakistan fully supports the right of self-determination of the Kashmiris and condemns the ongoing atrocities being committed by Indian security forces in the Indian-held Kashmir.

The President hoped that during the tenure of ambassador-designate, the bilateral relations between the two countries would further strengthen.
