President Mamnoon Hussain has underlined the need to lay greater emphasis on promoting research culture in the universities to promote creativity and innovation to take the country forward and achieve economic prosperity.

The President said this while talking to Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Monday.

The President said that the government was committed to promote higher education in the country. The President stated that education cannot be complete without character building of the younger generation and asked the HEC Chairman to further improve the standard of education across the country. The President hoped that the efforts of HEC will generate skillful human resource that will play a crucial role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

On the occasion, Chairman HEC briefed the President about matters relating to HEC and future programmes of his organization.
