Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood met with the President of Yunus Emre Institute, Prof. Dr. ?eref Ate?, in Ankara. Matters related to bilateral cultural cooperation and enhanced people-to-people exchanges were discussed, says a Press Release received from Ankara here today.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood highlighted the key events organized by the Pakistan Embassy during 2015-16 as part of cultural diplomacy and intensified people-to-people contacts.
The two sides also reviewed progress on the establishment of Yunus Emre Cultural Centers in Pakistan. “Once established, the Cultural Centers would be the best address in the country for all information relating to Turkey and its culture,” Prof. Dr. ?eref Ate? said.
During the meeting, the rich combined cultural heritage of the peoples of Pakistan and Turkey was highlighted, with special reference to the contributions of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, Allama Mohammad Iqbal, and Mehmet Akif Ersoy. Both sides agreed to deepen mutual collaboration, including through hosting of exhibitions and facilitating exchange of artists.
