A meeting of the FST comprising all its Members headed by its Chairman was held at Principal Seat in Islamabad on 02.09.2016 to consider and discuss various matters concerning the functioning and working of the Tribunal. It was noted with satisfaction that pace of cases disposal has been very encouraging inasmuch as at the end of year 2015, there were over 6000 pending cases whereas during the last eight months as many as 3036 fresh appeals were instituted and appeals were disposed of, 4437 reducing the pendency to under 5000. This remarkable achievement was appreciated in the meeting. It was resolved and decided that the Review Petitions will be decided on priority basis. It was also noted with satisfaction that as compared to the past, there was substantial increase in institution of appeals before the Tribunal which shows the trust and confidence of people in grievance redressal by the Tribunal. The other steps taken for the betterment of the staff and improvement of their working conditions was also noteworthy. It was a collective decision to make all possible efforts for early decision of the appeals with special attention to old matters which will be given priority.
It is noteworthy that it is the first ever such a meeting of the FST in which collective decisions were taken. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Justice (R) Sayed Zahid Hussain, the Chairman of the Tribunal.
