Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday and discussed the overall situation in the country and exchanged views on matters of national importance. President Mamnoon Hussain congratulated Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on regaining good health and expressed his optimism that he will continue to serve the people of Pakistan with full vigour.

The Prime Minister briefed the President on policies and decisions of the Government on various issues. The two leaders reviewed the ongoing development projects, energy projects, security situation, state of national economy, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Both the leaders agreed that completion of CPEC would usher in an era of progress and prosperity for the whole country besides generating many business and employment opportunities for the benefit of the people.

The progress of operation Zarb-e-Azb also came under discussion and the two expressed satisfaction at its success and reiterated that the operation would continue till its logical conclusion. Both the leaders praised the sacrifices of the armed forces and law enforcement personnel in fight against terrorism and extremism. The two resolved that determination of the nation would deter and defeat all the evil forces and the country would be put on the path to progress.

The President noted with appreciation that national economy is thriving due to the sound economic policies of the government which was also being acknowledged by International Financial Institutions and expressed satisfaction at the performance of Pakistan Stock Exchange hoping that it will continue reaching new heights. The two resolved that the government will continue pursuing its agenda of economic development for overall national progress and urged all to cooperate with the government in completion of all development projects.

Both the leaders reviewed the regional situation and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have friendly relations with all the neighboring countries for peace and prosperity in the region.
