PR No. 150 STANDING COMMITTEE ON KASHMIR AFFAIRS AND GILGIT BALTISTAN WAS BRIEFED BY THE SENIOR OFFICERS OF THE MINISTRY Islamabad

The 20th meeting of the Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan was held today in the Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Malik Ibrar Ahmed, MNA.

During the meeting, the Members were briefed and a presentation was conducted by the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan on the management of Jammu and Kashmir State Properties in Pakistan. The Committee was also briefed by the concerned Senior Officers of the Gilgit Baltistan on the potential of Hydro Power and Tourism Sector in Gilgit Baltistan as demanded by the Members in the last meeting.

A report of the Sub-Committee was also presented by the Convener in which it is stated that the matter of land acquisition is already under litigation in the Court of Law therefore, the concerned parties may contest their case accordingly. However, the Chair directed the Chief Secretary, Gilgit Baltistan to release the outstanding payments of the land given for the local development projects without further delay and a report in this regard may be presented in the next meeting.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister concerned Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir and Hon. Members of the Committee namely;  Mr. Khalil George, Ch. Abid Raza, Malik Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, Mr. Babar Nawaz Khan, Ms. Asiya Naz Tanoli, Mrs. Shams-un-Nisa, and Mr. Junaid Akbar.
