Country Director of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mr. Indrika Ratwate called on National Security Adviser Lt. General Nasser Janjua this afternoon to discuss matters pertaining to management, regulation and repatriation of Afghan Refugees in Pakistan.
NSA told that the Government and people of Pakistan have a great sympathy for Afghan Refugees. Despite being misunderstood, Pakistan has always stood with Afghanistan and its people and has wholeheartedly shared its bread with Afghan brethren. The Government remains committed to the policy of dignified and safe return of Afghan Refugees to their country.
Mr. Indrika lauded Pakistan’s generous role in hosting millions of Afghan Refugees for nearly four decades. He particularly appreciated the new refugees management and repatriation policy and the flexibility in visa for specific category of people including students, patients and businessmen.
They agreed to continue consultations with regard to ongoing efforts for better management and repatriation of the remaining refugees with assistance of the international community.
