President Mamnoon Hussain has urged ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Netherlands to highlight that the law and order situation in Pakistan has improved significantly after the launch of operation Zarb-e-Azb and there is conducive environment for foreign investment in the country.
The President said this while talking to Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to Netherlands Ms. Iffat Imran Gardezi who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Tuesday.
Congratulating Ms. Iffat Imran Gardezi on appointment as ambassador of Pakistan to Netherlands, the President hoped that she will contribute towards further improvement of overall bilateral ties between the two countries. The President stated that Pakistan greatly values its relations with Netherlands both bilaterally and within the context of the European Union. The President emphasized that one of her main tasks should be to make efforts for enhancing bilateral trade adding that new vistas and avenues for expanding the scope of trade need to be explored. The President urged her to highlight economic potential of Pakistan and project it as a business friendly country in the Netherlands.
The President noted with appreciation that many Dutch companies, including Shell, Philips, Unilever, Akzo-Nobel and Macro are operating in Pakistan. “Efforts be made to convince more Dutch companies to benefit from Pakistan’s investment friendly policies”, added the President. The President underlined that Pakistan would particularly like to benefit from the Dutch expertise in agro-based industry and seek support in capacity building in the fields of energy, water management, agriculture and infrastructure development.
The President asked the ambassador-designate to create institutional linkages to promote better understanding and cooperation between business communities of the two countries. The President expressed confidence that ambassador-designate will make efforts to further enhance collaboration in the fields of education and culture between the two countries.
The President urged the ambassador-designate to look after interests and welfare of the Pakistani community living in Netherlands and utilize their services in further strengthening our relations with Netherlands.
The President wished the ambassador-designate success in discharge of her new responsibilities.
