Independence day, this year, will be
celebrated with enhanced vigor and enthusiasm throughout the country,
said Federal Minister for IB & NH, Senator Pervaiz Rashid while co
chairing a meeting along with Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad
Rafique, at the Ministry of IB&NH, today, regarding Independence Day
celebrations .
Minister for IB & NH said that through the celebrations we will pay
homage to martyrs of the Pakistan Movement, highlight culture and
heritage of all regions of Pakistan and soldiers who sacrificed their
lives while defending the country.
Information Minister directed all departments of the Ministry of
IB&NH to work together with other Ministries and Pakistan Railways
to highlight ideological base of the Country through the Independence
Day celebrations.
The Minister for Railways informed the meeting that Pakistan Railways
has made preparations to run the Azadi Train with enhanced improvements
this year. He said that on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations
a special Azadi Train will be run, in all provinces and regions of the
country to highlight various aspects of the Freedom Movement. He said
that Azadi Train is aimed at informing the younger generation about the
struggle for Pakistan, highlight sacrifices of the armed forces and
introduce different cultures of Pakistan to them.
The meeting was informed that there would also be countrywide sports
activities, national mushaira, debating contests, competitions of
national songs across schools, colleges and universities, photo
exhibitions and food bazaars on major railways stations.
The Meeting decided to constitute inter ministerial special coordination
committee for integrated implementation of Azadi train plan at the
operational level.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary IB & NH Syed Imran
Gardezi, Secretary Cabinet Mr. Nadeem Hassan Asif, Secretary Railways
Ms. Perveen Agha, media chiefs and senior officials of the Pakistan
Railway and Cabinet Division.
