PR NO.221 INAUGURATION OF PAKISTAN TRADE CARAVAN IN DUSHANBE, TAJIKISTAN Dushanbe

After successfully holding the Trade Shows in Almaty, Kazakhstan and Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan Trade Caravan reached Dushanbe, Tajikistan on its final leg. The two-day Caravan (24-25 May 2016) was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Kamolidinzoda Ilyosiddin Jamaliddin, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mr. Said Sharif, Chairman of the Tajik Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Mr. Tariq Iqbal Soomro, Ambassador of Pakistan to Tajikistan at Hyatt Hotel, Dushanbe on 24 May 2016.

Before the inauguration, the Ambassador along with the Secretary, TDAP and Tajik Chamber of Commerce officials held a press conference in which they appreciated the TDAP’s Trade Caravan initiative and emphasized that there existed vast business potential on both sides which needed to be tapped through joint efforts to the mutual benefit of two brotherly countries. The Ambassador also highlighted that the vision of the leaderships of the two countries for increased connectivity between Pakistan and Tajikistan is gradually bearing fruit, which is reflected in the launching ceremony of CASA-1000, and inauguration of Somon Air on Dushanbe-Lahore sector early this month.

About 40 different companies from Pakistan exhibited their diverse products and expertise. Hundreds of Tajik businessmen and entrepreneurs visited the Exhibition and took keen interest in Pakistani products. The specialty of the event was the ‘Mango Festival’ organized on the sidelines of the Caravan and the visitors highly cherished the various drinks and desserts prepared from these mangoes.

The Trade Caravan will end today with arranging of B2B meetings between Pakistani exporters and Tajik businessmen/importers.
