Federal Minister for Human Rights Senator Kamran Micheal has expressed deep concern over the tragic incident of death of sewer cleaner, Irfan Masih in Civil Hospital Umerkot, yesterday due to criminal negligence by doctors. He condemned the irresponsible behavior of the doctors and said that criminal negligence would not be tolerated at any cost and all those who responsible for the death of the sanitary worker would be taken into task.

Kamran Michael contacted the relevant officials after taking serious notice of the news of the sad incident broadcasted in national media late night. He directed the relevant officials to probe into the matter and submit its report immediately. Michael telephoned SSP Umerkot, Usman Bajwa and directed to file FIR against those responsible for the sad incident and arrest them. He further directed to conduct an immediate inquiry to probe into the matter and take stern action against those who committed the criminal negligence. He said that Government is responsible to protect the rights and safety of every citizen. Soon after, MS of the hospital, Dr Jaam Kunbhar, the other two doctors and three officers of municipal department has been arrested. Reportedly, Irfan Masih was cleaning a sewer early on Thursday morning when he fell down a manhole and became unconscious. He was then rushed to Karachi’s Liaqat Hospital, but due to criminal negligence of doctors he was succumbed to death.

While showing sympathies and solidarity with the heirs of the deceased, the minister Kamran Michael has said that accused will be brought to the court of law and justice would be given to the family of the Kamran Masih without delay. He assured them he will personally look into the matter and will be visiting Umerkot soon to redress their grievances.
