The Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai, observed Kashmir Black Day to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event was attended by members of the Kashmiri and Pakistani communities residing in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

During the event, messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmiri cause. A documentary film highlighting the ongoing struggle and suffering of the Kashmiri people was screened, and photos depicting their resilience and sacrifices were also displayed.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, paid tribute to the courage and resilience of the Kashmiri people and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination. He underscored that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains a matter of human rights and international justice, requiring resolution in accordance with the relevant UNSC resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The Consul General highlighted the grave human rights violations in IIOJK and stated that India’s unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 had further compounded the suffering of the Kashmiri people. He urged the international community to fulfil its responsibilities and support a just and lasting resolution of the dispute.

Kashmir Black Day marks 27 October 1947, the day when Indian troops illegally entered Jammu and Kashmir, occupying the territory against the will of its people. This day is remembered as a dark chapter in history and a symbol of the Kashmiri people’s unyielding struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

Representatives of the Kashmiri community expressed their gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for their steadfast support and solidarity, reiterating their determination to continue the struggle for self-determination in accordance with international law and UN resolutions.
