Pakistan High Commission organized an event to observe Jammu and Kashmir Black Day

Dhaka: October 27, 2026

Pakistan High Commission organized an event on 27 October 2026 to observe Jammu and Kashmir Black Day and express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). High Commissioner Imran Haider welcomed members of the Pakistani community, Friends of Pakistan and representatives of the media who attended the event.

On the occasion, messages of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out. The messages recalled 27 October 1947, when Indian forces landed in Srinagar, marking the beginning of a prolonged and tragic chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. They highlighted the continued denial of the Kashmiri people's inalienable right to self-determination, as affirmed in relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and paid tribute to their sacrifices, resilience and unwavering commitment to justice, dignity and freedom.

The leadership's messages expressed serious concern over human rights challenges, restrictions on fundamental freedoms, the detention of Kashmiri political leaders and activists, and India's unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, which sought to alter the territory's constitutional and legal status. They called upon the international community, particularly the United Nations and international human rights organizations, to play a meaningful role in protecting the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people and facilitating a just, peaceful and lasting resolution of the dispute.

Reaffirming Pakistan's unwavering moral, political and diplomatic support for the people of IIOJK, the leadership emphasized that lasting peace and stability in South Asia remain intrinsically linked to the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to continue advocating the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people, including their right to self-determination, at all relevant international forums.

Participants also took keen interest in a photo exhibition highlighting the hardships faced by the Kashmiri people and depicting human rights violations and restrictions on their freedom of expression in IIOJK.
