Three Maritime Entities Rank Among Pakistan’s Top 10 Profitable SOEs

Islamabad: October 23, 2026

Three organisations under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs including Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim Authority (PQA) and Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) ranked among Pakistan’s 10 most profitable state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in fiscal year 2024–25, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said on Friday.

According to the Federal State-Owned Enterprises Annual Aggregate Report for FY2024–25, issued by the Central Monitoring Unit of the Finance Division, KPT ranked sixth, PQA seventh and PNSC tenth among the country’s most profitable SOEs.

In a statement, the minister attributed the rankings to the performance of the three organisations’ management and workforce, along with the ministry’s oversight.

He said the results highlighted the potential of the country’s maritime institutions to contribute to the national economy through improved financial management, operational efficiency and effective use of resources.

The minister emphasised the need to sustain performance through stronger governance, institutional accountability and continued operational improvements.

KPT and PQA manage major port operations, while PNSC provides national shipping services. Their activities support cargo handling, international trade and maritime connectivity.

The minister said continued improvements in the management and performance of maritime organisations would help strengthen the country’s maritime sector.
