PR No. 114 Pakistan delegation to attend Annual General Meetings of Islamic Development Bank Islamabad

 

Pakistan delegation would attend the Annual General Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB)scheduled to be held at Jakarta from 17-19 May2016.

President IDB, Ahmed Mohammad Ali called Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar on phone Friday morning and extended him the invitation to attend the meeting.

Finance Minister thanked Ahmed Mohammad Ali for the invitation and said Pakistan highly valued its development partnership with the IDB. He informed the IDB President about his inability to attend the annual meetings in Jakarta, Indonesia, due to his preoccupation with the annual budget preparation, which is currently underway.

The Finance Minister has separately directed Secretary Economic Affairs Division to represent Pakistan at the IDB meeting at Jakarta.

 

It may be mentioned that Enhancing Growth and Poverty Alleviation through Infrastructure Development and Financial Inclusion will be the overall theme of  IDB annual meeting this year’s. The annual meeting will gather IDB’s 56 Governors, mostly finance and economy ministers, besides a large number of policy makers and top leaders from its international and regional partner institutions. The Annual Meeting will also provide its stakeholders an opportunity to explore practical solutions, strengthen partnership and cooperation between its 56 member countries.
