Federal Minister for National Heritage & Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi has said that remembering the sacrifices and services of national heroes and familiarising the younger generation with the country’s history are among the key priorities of the National Heritage & Culture Division.
He expressed these views while inaugurating a special photographic exhibition at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Islamabad, commemorating the 75th death anniversary of Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s first Prime Minister and one of the prominent founding leaders of the country. Ms. Samia Liaquat Ali Khan, great-granddaughter of Shaheed-e-Millat, attended the event as guest of honour.
The Federal Minister appreciated the initiative and said it was encouraging to see efforts being made to preserve the memory of national leaders and highlight their contributions to Pakistan’s history. He said that institutions working under the National Heritage & Culture Division were also organising activities to promote awareness of the lives, services and sacrifices of the country’s prominent personalities.
He also appreciated the efforts of Secretary National Heritage & Culture Division Asad Rehman Gilani in promoting such initiatives.
The Federal Minister said that exhibitions of this nature remind the nation of the sacrifices made by its forefathers and provide an opportunity to renew the commitment to follow in their footsteps for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
He further stated that the initiative would be expanded by inviting students and young people from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to visit the exhibition, enabling them to learn more about the country’s history, national leaders and the struggle for Pakistan.
Aurangzeb Khan Khichi reaffirmed that the National Heritage & Culture Division was making concerted efforts to preserve the legacy of national heroes and pass on their contributions to future generations, encouraging young people to remember the country’s founding leaders and contribute to national development.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Samia Liaquat Ali Khan expressed her appreciation for organising the photographic exhibition in memory of Shaheed-e-Millat and thanked the Federal Minister and the Secretary National Heritage & Culture Division for their efforts.
Sharing her family’s memories, she said that the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan was the greatest tragedy of her life. She noted that the incident brought a sudden and decisive change to her family’s life, adding that events and exhibitions held in his memory played an important role in keeping his legacy, services and contribution to Pakistan’s history alive.
The photographic exhibition, organised by PNCA, aims to highlight the life, national services and historical contributions of Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan and familiarise the younger generation with the struggle and sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding leaders.
