Health and Pharma Sector Reforms reviewed at SIFC

Progress on Key Health & Pharma Initiatives discussed

Focus on Local Production & Export Potential

Islamabad: October 02, 2026

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) convened a detailed meeting to review progress on key reforms and development initiatives in Pakistan’s health and pharmaceutical sectors. The meeting was chaired jointly by the Federal Minister for Health and Director General SIFC and attended by senior representatives of the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, DRAP, DESTO, PN&MC, NIH (Vaccination & Immunisation) and the Ministry of Commerce.

The meeting reviewed progress on priority initiatives aimed at strengthening domestic health-sector capabilities, improving regulatory and institutional coordination, and unlocking new investment and export opportunities. Particular focus was placed on indigenous vaccine production, the plasma fractionation project, formulation of a national policies package, roll-out of the drug track-and-trace system, and development of the health sector’s export potential.

The participants discussed measures to accelerate implementation through coordinated efforts among relevant institutions. SIFC highlighted the importance of translating identified opportunities and reforms into tangible outcomes while facilitating an enabling environment for investment, local production, technology development and value addition in the health and pharmaceutical sectors.

The meeting reaffirmed the coordinated approach under the SIFC framework to advance priority health-sector initiatives, strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and enhance the international competitiveness and export potential of Pakistan’s health and pharmaceutical industry.
