The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Gadani, has intensified its anti-smuggling operations through a series of successful intelligence-based actions conducted across various areas of Makran Division, Lasbela and Hub in Balochistan Customs Enforcement teams, in coordination with other law-enforcement agencies, intercepted substantial quantities of smuggled goods with a cumulative value of over Rs. 154 million, including the value of seized carriers.
In a joint operation with the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Hub, the Field Enforcement Unit Khurkhera intercepted two passenger buses carrying smuggled goods in the Lasbela area. During a detailed search, substantial quantities of foreign-origin betel nuts, cosmetics, cigarettes, Indian Gutka and parachute cloth were recovered. The goods had been concealed in specially created hidden cavities of the buses. The cumulative value of the seized goods and carriers is estimated at over Rs. 130 million.
In a separate operation, the Mobile Enforcement Unit, Hub, raided a godown in the Hub area and recovered substantial quantities of plastic shopper bags and skimmed milk powder, collectively valued at approximately Rs. 20 million. The seized goods were subsequently transported and deposited at the State Warehouse, Gadani, in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
Meanwhile, the Field Enforcement Unit Gwadar, during strict checking on the Coastal Highway, intercepted 750 kilograms of smuggled Iranian edible oil, packed in 150 tins of 5 kilograms each. The value of the seized goods is estimated at approximately Rs. 4 million.
Pakistan Customs has reiterated its resolve to continue intelligence-based and coordinated anti-smuggling operations across the region to curb the illegal movement of smuggled goods and protect legitimate trade and the national economy.
