Federal Minister for Law & Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Business, which reviewed legal and regulatory amendments and rules submitted by various ministries and divisions.
The meeting approved the draft OGRA Fees and Charges Rules, aimed at aligning the fee and charges framework for various regulatory and licensing services administered by OGRA with current requirements.
The Committee accorded conditional approval to proposed amendments to the Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act, 1997, subject to incorporation of the Committee’s recommendations and suggestions in the draft.
The Committee also approved an amendment to the Pakistan Coast Guards Act, 1973, aimed at providing a formal legal framework for the rules and regulations governing the Regimental Fund and its administration and operation.
The Committee approved a proposed amendment to the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978, providing the necessary legal scope for establishing, improving and upgrading research and laboratory facilities through the Central Research Fund.
Consideration of proposed amendments to the FIA Act, 1974, and the Immigration Rules, 1979, was deferred, while the agenda relating to the Draft PEMRA Rules, 2025, was withdrawn from the Committee.
Senior officials from the relevant ministries, divisions and government departments attended the meeting.
