Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, speaking at the high-level event on the Climate Implementation Bridge (BRIDGE) in New York, emphasized that climate commitments must translate into tangible results for communities.
The Finance Minister identified three requirements for effective implementation, including a sound policy framework, access to finance, and capacity to deliver projects at the country level. He also highlighted Pakistan’s progress on climate policy and its efforts to mobilize financing through domestic resources, international financial institutions, capital markets and climate funds.
He noted that institutional fragmentation and a shortage of investable and bankable projects continue to hinder implementation. Referring to the 2022 floods, he observed that some international support remained unutilized despite generous pledges because suitable projects had not been developed.
Welcoming Pakistan’s participation in BRIDGE, the Finance Minister urged partners to build consensus on practical “no-regret” decisions that would move the initiative from dialogue to action.
