The Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Matters, constituted under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, approved specific amendments to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2002, the new set of Public Procurement Rules, 2025, and inclusion of the Geographical Indication Act, 2020 in the relevant Schedule, among various legal and administrative matters. The committee, however, deferred the proposed amendment to the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978 and proposed amendments to the rules relating to railway land for further consultation.
The meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Matters, chaired by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, was held here at the Ministry of Law and Justice on Friday. Relevant officials from various ministries and divisions attended the meeting.
The meeting considered specific amendments to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2002, the new set of Public Procurement Rules, 2025, inclusion of the Geographical Indication Act, 2020 in the relevant Schedule, discontinuation of the Condiment Allowance, and a specific amendment to the Danish Schools Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
The committee approved all five matters, including the specific amendments, and the approved matters were forwarded to the relevant ministries and divisions for further necessary action.
The meeting also reviewed matters relating to the effective utilization of railway land and generation of revenue from it. The committee was briefed on the significant increase in revenue generated from railway land, as well as matters concerning the existing and expected availability of railway land.
The committee decided that the proposed amendments to the rules relating to railway land would be considered after further consultation and directed the relevant authorities to undertake further consultations on the matter.
The proposed amendment to the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978 was also considered and deferred for further deliberation and consultation.
The meeting decided that the other deferred matters would also be considered further in the next meeting. The matters would be placed before the committee again after obtaining further clarification and consultation from the relevant ministries and departments.
