The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, on 08th September 2026, foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics and seized 212 kilograms of charas during an intelligence-based operation conducted in Karachi.
In pursuance of credible information, an Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) team of the Superhighway Check Post attempted to intercept a suspicious Toyota Premio bearing registration No. CBQ-843 during the intervening night of 07/08 September 2026 near Hassan Square Interchange on the Lyari Expressway. The vehicle failed to stop and fled towards Aga Khan Hospital. During the ensuing pursuit, it collided with a Customs Vigo bearing registration No. GP-293 near National Stadium Signal. The Customs team also came under aerial firing from suspected pilot vehicles during the chase.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the Customs personnel continued the pursuit and succeeded in intercepting the vehicle near Aga Khan Hospital Signal. The vehicle was subsequently brought to the Superhighway Check Post for detailed examination.
During a thorough search, 212 packets of charas, each weighing approximately 1 kilogram, were recovered from the trunk of the vehicle, resulting in the seizure of a total quantity of 212 kilograms of charas.
The seized narcotics and the vehicle have been taken into custody for completion of further legal formalities, and an FIR is being registered under the relevant provisions of law.
