Federal Minister for Law & Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar said that Pakistan was ready to share its experience and expertise with Bangladesh in the areas of legal reforms and digitalisation of the justice system and to extend cooperation in these fields.
He made these remarks during a meeting with High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan Mr. Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, who called on the Federal Minister here on Monday. The meeting discussed Pakistan-Bangladesh bilateral relations, legal and judicial cooperation, mediation and reconciliation mechanisms and other matters of mutual interest.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive developments in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and agreed on the need to further strengthen bilateral linkages.
The Federal Minister said there was considerable scope for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh in various fields, including law and justice. He said both countries could benefit from each other’s experiences in legal reforms, use of modern technology and digitalisation of the justice system.
Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar stressed the need to further expand bilateral cooperation in the legal and judicial sectors, saying that exchange of experiences and expertise could contribute to making the justice systems of both countries more effective.
The Bangladesh High Commissioner thanked Pakistan for facilitating the training of Bangladeshi judges at the International Mediation & Arbitration Centre (IMAC) and appreciated the cooperation extended by the Ministry of Law & Justice in mediation and reconciliation programmes.
The High Commissioner expressed Bangladesh’s interest in benefiting from Pakistan’s experience in mediation and reconciliation and conveyed a desire to further strengthen cooperation in this area.
The meeting also discussed legal reforms, use of modern technology in the justice system, mediation and reconciliation mechanisms, exchange of experiences and further opportunities for cooperation in other fields.
Both sides welcomed increased people-to-people and institutional contacts, describing the development as encouraging for further strengthening Pakistan-Bangladesh bilateral relations, and reaffirmed their commitment to further consolidating mutual cooperation.
