Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt inaugurates an exhibition showcasing a diverse range of products prepared and manufactured by trainees of PBM’s Women Empowerment Centres from across Pakistan. PBM has organized the two-day exhibition (23-24 August), in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and An-Nisa Dastkari School, here at Aiwan-e-Quaid, F-9 Park.
Ambassador of Rwanda in Pakistan H.E Harerimana Fatou, MNA & Parliamentary Secretary (National Heritage & Culture Divison) Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, head of various NGOs and trainees from PBM’s Women Empowerment Centres were also present on the occasion.
Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt along with the distinguished guests visited all the stalls and observed the products manufactured by the trainees and appreciated the dedication and creativity of the women trainees.
In her address, the Ambassador or Rwanda termed the Pakistani culture rich and dignified and congratulated PBM leadership and team for their significant contribution towards women empowerment. She also vowed for the collaborative efforts and support for uplifting lives of the poor women.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt said that the objective of PBM’s women empowerment initiatives was not limited to imparting vocational skills, but was to establish a complete pathway from skills development to entrepreneurship, market access and sustainable livelihoods. He emphasized the need to expose women trainees to contemporary marketing practices, digital marketing and online selling platforms so that their products could reach customers beyond their local communities. He said that connecting women producers with e-commerce and digital platforms could help them access new markets, expand their businesses and generate sustainable sources of income.
The Managing Director appreciated the collaboration of PBM’s partners in organizing the exhibition and underscored the importance of partnerships among public-sector institutions, private-sector organizations, businesses and digital platforms for creating sustainable economic opportunities for women across Pakistan.
He also highlighted the contemporary reforms recently introduced in 165 Women Empowerment Centres operated by PBM, aimed at modernizing skills training and making women trainees better prepared for the evolving requirements of the market. He told that more than 400,000 trainees have been passed out from the Women Empowerment Centres of PBM.
Referring to the significance of the Prime Minister’s Uraan Pakistan Programme, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt said that PBM’s broader vision was aligned with the national objective of promoting inclusive economic growth by empowering women through skills, entrepreneurship, market access and digital inclusion.
Parliamentary Secretary Ms. Farah Naz Akbar also highlighted the significance of a skilled women and applauded the PBM’s role to creating an enabling environment in which women could transform their skills into sustainable economic opportunities and ultimately become economically empowered, self-supporting and confident contributors to society and the national economy.
