President Asif Ali Zardari has stressed the need to strengthen internal processes and monitoring mechanisms to ensure that complaints of workplace harassment are resolved promptly and efficiently.
The President made these remarks while receiving the Annual Report 2025 of the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection against Harassment (FOSPAH) from Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The President appreciated the role of FOSPAH in safeguarding individuals against workplace harassment and called for increased awareness initiatives about the services provided by the institution.
The President was informed that FOSPAH received 1,119 harassment complaints during 2024-25 and decided 1,047, while 352 complaints relating to property deprivation were received and 238 were decided. The report presented to the President stated that complaint registration had increased by 375 per cent compared to the previous year.
The President emphasised that complaints should be examined fairly and on merit, with due process ensuring that genuine cases of harassment are addressed promptly while allegations are assessed carefully in accordance with the law.
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla was also present during the meeting.
