A dignified and inclusive flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan today to commemorate the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan. The ceremony was attended by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court, the Registrar, officers, staff and their children.
In a symbolic expression of Pakistan’s constitutional commitment to equality, inclusion and religious harmony, the national flag was hoisted by children belonging to minority community, the Hon’ble Chief Justice and Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court, a Hindu Pandit, a Christian Priest, and a Muslim Cleric. The national anthem was played by the Police Band, adding a sense of solemnity and national pride to the occasion.
The participation of people from diverse religious communities in the flag-hoisting ceremony underscored the message that Pakistan belongs equally to all its citizens and that the country’s strength lies in its diversity, unity and shared commitment to the ideals of the Constitution.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice interacted warmly with the children and guided them through Court Room No.1, acquainting them with the working environment of the Supreme Court and making the occasion a meaningful and memorable experience for them. The celebrations also included the traditional cutting of the Independence Day cake by the Hon’ble Chief Justice, Hon’ble Judges and the children, symbolizing the shared joy and spirit of the national occasion.
In his Independence Day message, the Hon’ble Chief Justice extended felicitations to the people of Pakistan and the legal fraternity, paying tribute to the vision, sacrifices and determination that made an independent Pakistan possible. His Lordship emphasized that independence carries an enduring responsibility to uphold values, protect rights and strengthen citizens’ confidence in State institutions.
