The Consulate General of Pakistan, Sydney hosted “Niswan – Voices United: Recognizing Pakistani Women in Art and Culture on the 150th of Quaid-e-Azam’s Legacy”, a special cultural evening celebrating the creativity, achievements and contributions of Pakistani women in the fields of art, culture and community.
The event brought together distinguished guests, including Hon. Jihad Dib, Minister, Ms Lynda Voltz, MP and Mr. Shaoquett Moselmane, as well as representatives from various Consulates, artists, curators, community representatives and members of the Pakistani Australian community to recognise and celebrate the diverse voices and artistic contributions of Pakistani women. The event highlighted the contributions of Pakistani women in Australia. A pictorial gallery of the photographs of the founding father was also displayed.
The programme commenced with a welcome by Ms Shanza Faiq, Deputy Consul General and Event Coordinator, who acknowledged the Traditional Custodians of the land and welcomed the distinguished guests and participants.
Mr Qamar Zaman, Consul General of Pakistan, Sydney, delivered the official opening remarks and highlighted the importance of recognising the role of women in promoting Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and strengthening cultural connections between Pakistan and Australia. He also spoke about the role and principles of the Quaid-e-Azam.
The programme featured a speech by young artist Simra Khan, followed by a video slideshow showcasing Pakistani women and their contributions to the arts and community. A special Girah performance by Sheni Iqbal, Madiha Khan and Abida Malik, curated by The Afsana Company, was also presented, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the evening.
The event also included the presentation of certificates and Pakistan flag pins to artists, curators and sponsors in recognition of their participation and contribution. Guests had the opportunity to view the artwork exhibition, meet the participating artists and engage with members of the wider community.
The Consulate General of Pakistan, Sydney expressed its appreciation to all the artists, curators, sponsors, distinguished guests and members of the community who contributed to the success of “Niswan – Voices United.” The event reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to promoting Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and providing platforms for Pakistani women artists and creatives to showcase their talent, creativity and stories in Australia.
