Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) and National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have principally agreed to work jointly through the signing of a Document of Intent (DoI), aimed at establishing a structured framework for cooperation and paving the way for a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations.
Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt, and Managing Director National Telecommunication Corporation, Maj. Gen. (R) Ali Farhan, signed the Document of Intent during a ceremony held at PBM Headquarters.
The document reflects the mutual intent and good-faith commitment of both organizations to work together toward strengthening PBM’s nationwide connectivity infrastructure and ensuring its continued reliability, technical support, and operational sustainability.
Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director PBM Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt warmly welcomed Managing Director NTC Maj. Gen. (R) Ali Farhan and his team, and appreciated NTC’s professionalism, responsiveness, and commitment to meeting the evolving technological requirements of public-sector organizations.
Highlighting the milestones achieved by the organization, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt said that Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal is a mission-driven public-sector organization serving the most vulnerable and underprivileged segments of society across Pakistan. He emphasized that technology and reliable communication services have become essential to the effective delivery of PBM’s programmes nationwide. “Every rupee we save on operational costs goes directly to a beneficiary; a widow, an orphan, a patient or a student. When NTC extends favourable terms to Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, that support does not remain at the institutional level; it ultimately reaches the people who need it most,” PBM Chief stated.
He also termed the digital services an uninterrupted and vital for ensuring continuous service delivery to widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and other deserving and marginalized communities who depend on PBM’s programmes. In this regard, Managing Director formally requested NTC to consider subsidized or concessional rates for internet connectivity, point-to-point links, e-mail and web hosting, and cloud services. These services, he noted, constitute essential operational infrastructure for PBM and its beneficiary networks rather than merely being administrative conveniences. Managing Director PBM, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt also expressed his commitment to align the organization’s goals as envisioned in Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s Uraan Pakistan.
Speaking at the occasion, Managing Director NTC Maj. Gen. (R) Ali Farhan commended the PBM’s inclusive social services. Admiring the PBM’s Chief commitment towards digitalization and e-governance to deliver in more transparent and efficient way, he vowed to extend every technical support with subsidized rates. Managing Director NTC confirmed to establish a framework for long-term collaboration aimed at supporting the nation’s most vulnerable citizens through reliable and sustainable connectivity infrastructure.
Both the organizations reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation, coordination, and good-faith efforts in pursuing the objectives of the framework, with the broader goal of contributing to the effective delivery of services to Pakistan’s most vulnerable and deserving citizens.
