Chairman Senate Inaugurates Modernized Senate Secretariat Office Complex

Islamabad: August 07, 2026

Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, today inaugurated the newly modernized office complex of the Senate Secretariat at Parliament House, marking another milestone in his vision for institutional modernization, administrative reform and strengthening the capacity of Parliament. The ceremony was attended by Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider, senior officers of the Senate Secretariat and officials associated with the execution of the project.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman Senate observed that strong democratic institutions require modern systems, efficient infrastructure and a professional working environment. He said that the modernization of the Senate Secretariat forms part of a broader reform agenda aimed at enhancing institutional efficiency, improving service delivery and equipping the Secretariat to effectively support Parliament in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

The Chairman emphasized that the project reflects the Senate Secretariat's commitment to innovation, sustainability and prudent utilization of public resources. Rather than undertaking new construction, the initiative focused on modernizing and optimizing the existing infrastructure through efficient planning, resulting in enhanced functionality, improved workspace management and increased institutional capacity.

As part of the modernization initiative, the Senate Secretariat has, for the first time, installed a state-of-the-art Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) air-conditioning system in the renovated office complex. Equipped with an advanced fresh-air oxygenation feature, the system ensures a continuous supply of fresh, oxygen-rich air while delivering superior energy efficiency, precise climate control and enhanced indoor air quality, thereby providing a healthier, more comfortable and productive working environment for officers and staff. The project also optimized the existing office layout, creating smart and additional office accommodation without expanding the building footprint.

Chairman Senate appreciated the project management team, engineers, architects, consultants and CDA staff etc. whose professionalism, dedication and meticulous planning ensured the successful completion of the project.

Reaffirming his commitment to institutional excellence, Chairman Senate stated that modernization of parliamentary institutions is essential for responsive, efficient and transparent governance. He expressed confidence that the upgraded facilities would further strengthen the administrative capacity of the Senate Secretariat, enhance organizational performance and enable officers and officials to deliver even more effective support to Parliament and its Committees.

The initiative reflects Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani's continued focus on institutional development, modernization and sustainable reforms, reinforcing the Senate Secretariat's resolve to adopt innovative solutions that strengthen parliamentary governance while ensuring the efficient utilization of public resources.
