Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) would like to draw attention of all the concerned particularly, the youth of Pakistan aspiring to join Pakistan Civil Service through CSS, to a recently published news setting a perception of a decrease of around forty five percent in the applicants for CSS between 2022 and 2025. The news report is being discussed and commented upon in the print, electronic and social media.
2. The news report gives an impression as if the youth of Pakistan is losing trust and interest in the Civil Services of Pakistan. A comprehensive and authentic data of CSS available with FPSC given in the following table does not support the conclusion drawn in the news report and perception being created:

3. Moreover, the news report has been based upon the difference between the candidates who applied in 2022 and 2025, that too reporting the incorrect figure pertaining to the year 2022. The news report also ignored important aspects such as the number of applicants for screening tests (MPT) for CSS, which attracted large number of candidates as shown in the above table. Furthermore, the news report did not take into account Special CSS-2023, wherein, 141 aspirants (minorities, females and candidates from under-privileged areas) got allocated as a result of special measure by Federal Government and its cascading impacts on the following years. Based on the ground reality and available data, FPSC is of the view that joining Civil Service through CSS still remains a dream for the youth of Pakistan as reflected in the above-mentioned data.
4. FPSC would like to extend its fullest support and cooperation for publishing such important reports after due diligence with correct data and appropriate interpretation thereof.
