The Judicial Commission of Pakistan, in its respective compositions
i. Under Article 175A (2) of the Constitution
ii. For the Lahore High Court and
iii. For High Court of Baluchistan,
met today under the chairmanship of the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Pakistan at the Conference Room of the Supreme Court Building, Islamabad. During the meeting, held from 1.45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Commission considered the following agenda items:
1). Judicial Commission of Pakistan under Article 175A (2) of the Constitution.
The Commission considered some proposed amendments in the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (Appointment of Judges) Rules, 2024. It was decided that let these proposals be circulated among all remaining members of the Commission including Federal Shariat Court and High Courts for their consideration and approval.
2) Lahore High Court
Confirmation of Additional Judge
The Commission, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the confirmation of Additional Judge Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa as Judge of Lahore High Court.
Appointment of 10 Additional Judges
The Commission, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the appointment of the following ten nominees as Additional Judges of Lahore High Court.
1. Amir Ajam Malik, ASC
2. Asad Ali Bajwa, ASC
3. Barrister Muhammad Usman Ghani Rashid Cheema, ASC
4. Ghulam Sarwar Nihang, ASC
5. Khalid Ibn-i-Aziz, ASC
6. Muhammad Ajmal Khan Zahid, ASC
7. Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz, ASC
8 Munawar Iqbal Duggal, ASC
9. Shiren Imran, ASC
10. Syed Farhad Ali, ASC
3) High Court of Baluchistan
Appointment of five Additional Judges;
The Commission, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the appointment of the following three nominees as Additional Judges of the High Court of Baluchistan. Two vacancies were not filled.
1. Allah Dad Roshan, D&SJ
2. Muhammad Rauf Atta, ASC
3. Abdul Qayyum Lehri, D&SJ
