The Judicial Commission of Pakistan, in its respective compositions for the High Court of Sindh, Islamabad High Court, and Peshawar High Court, met today under the chairmanship of the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Pakistan at the Conference Room of the Supreme Court Building, Islamabad. During the meeting, held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Commission considered the following agenda items:
1) High Court of Sindh
Confirmation of Additional Judges
The Commission, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the Extension of the term of Mr. Justice Khalid Hussain Shahani as Additional Judge of the High Court of Sindh for a period of six months, after due consideration of the relevant Data Forms, Antecedents, and evaluation of material placed before it. While Mr. Justice Syed Fiaz ul Hassan Shah, Additional Judge, High Court of Sindh, was not confirmed.
Extension of the term of Constitutional Benches
The Commission, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the extension of the term of the Constitutional Benches of the High Court of Sindh for a period of three months.
Appointment of five Additional Judges
The Commission, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the appointment of the following three nominees as Additional Judges of the High Court of Sindh. Two vacancies could not be filled due to lack of required majority of total membership.
i. Muhammad Humayon Khan, Advocate
ii. Suresh Kumar, District & Sessions Judge
iii. Dr. Shah Nawaz Memon, Advocate
2) Islamabad High Court
Appointment of three Additional Judges;
The Commission, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the appointment of the following three nominees as Additional Judges of the Islamabad High Court.
i. Ayyaz Shaukat, Advocate
ii. Shahrukh Arjumand, District & Sessions Judge
iii. Umair Majeed Malik, Advocate
3) Peshawar High Court.
Confirmation of four Additional Judges
The Commission recommended, by a majority of its total membership, the confirmation of the following Additional Judges as Judges of the Peshawar High Court, after due consideration of the relevant Data Forms, Antecedents, and evaluation of material placed before it.
i. Justice Ms. Farah Jamshed
ii. Mr. Justice Inaam Ullah Khan
iii. Mr. Justice Sabit Ullah Khan
iv. Mr. Justice Aurangzeb
